We all desire happiness. This desire is of divine origin. God has placed it in the human heart in order to draw man to the One who alone can fulfill it: We were made for God and He alone satisfies.
We welcome all those who are searching and are interested in learning more about Jesus Christ and the Catholic faith. For those who are not Catholic and desire to be baptized or received into the Church, or for those who are Catholic and have not yet been confirmed we have weekly faith formation sessions as part of the OCIA (Order of Christian Initiation of Adults) program. These sessions meet weekly an individual basis this year.
OCIA’s goal is to nurture a free, intelligent, and complete response to God’s love revealed to us in Jesus Christ. This entails hearing the living Word of God, formation in liturgy (communal worship of God), catechesis (knowledge about the faith), and discipleship (living out our relationship with Jesus Christ in daily life). The conversion of heart and mind is nurtured by the universal Church, the local Church within the Archdiocese of Louisville, the Catholic Campus Ministry community at UofL, and the sponsor.
Conversion and initiation is a spiritual journey. This pilgrimage of the heart takes place through distinct stages over a period of time to bring about a deeper commitment to Christ, a thorough understanding of the Catholic faith, a firm commitment to the liturgical and moral responsibilities of a fully Christian life, and an experience of walking together as a Catholic community.
